Is adding exercise to your routine one of your 2019 New Year goals? Walking 30 minutes a day may lower breast cancer risk.
Susan G. Komen is involved in advocacy at both the state and federal level. Nationally, Komen recently announced our advocacy priorities for the 116th Congress. Keep up with Komen’s federal advocacy efforts on their Facebook page.
Locally, Komen Oregon & SW Washington continues to advocate for increased state funding of ScreenWise, Oregon’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, which provides breast and cervical cancer screenings for uninsured and underinsured Oregonians. You can show your support in three ways:
- Sign our petition to let your legislators know that you support state funding of this program.
- Join Komen’s team at the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Action Network’s (ACS CAN) Oregon Day at the Capitol on Monday, February 18. Register here!
- Join Komen and ACS CAN in Salem on Friday, March 8, as we meet with our local legislators about the importance of screening in early detection and the safety net programs (such as ScreenWise) that support those in need. Register here!
