Blenda Ryles

In between her annual mammograms, Blenda noticed a sore on her breast that would not go away, which eventually sent her to the emergency room. “The mammogram that Komen covered meant a lot to me,” Blenda explains. “My insurance had expired after my annual mammogram six months earlier, which showed no signs of breast cancer. This mammogram caught my breast cancer early and saved my life.” Now, she volunteers as an Ambassador with Komen’s Worship in Pink program, sharing the importance of breast health awareness in Portland’s African American community.
