The Breast Cancer Issues Conference provides survivors & fighters, support persons, high-risk individuals, and health care professionals the opportunity to learn about and discuss breast cancer topics with leading health professionals, researchers, and fellow survivors. Topics cover emerging research and treatment options, breast cancer risk reduction, and quality of life issues.

“Permission to Change”
Melanie is a determined combatant against devastation and destruction who provides actionable lessons for winning in the face of insurmountable odds. From caregiver to patient, from breastfeeding to breast cancer, cancer can change your life in an instant. Melanie has endured a life changing cancer instant in every decade of her life beginning at age eight with her mother’s breast cancer diagnosis, her mother’s recurrences and ultimate death, and Melanie’s own triple negative breast cancer diagnosis at 38.

Cancellations will be accepted, in writing, until March 31, 2020.
A limited number of general scholarships are available on a first come, first served basis. Scholarships will be prioritized for individuals who demonstrate financial need, and will only be given to individuals who have, or have had breast cancer. Contact the Komen office to request a scholarship- 800.404.8241.
Attendees with Metastatic Breast Cancer
Thanks to sponsor funding, the first 50 registrants living with MBC will be able to attend at no cost. Please select the ticket type “living with stage IV/Metastatic breast cancer” on the general attendee registration page. Please note that this funding is for the person living with MBC only. If a caregiver would like to attend, but the registration fee is a barrier, please contact Komen for a scholarship (see above). We also have BCI Conference-specific travel assistance available for individuals living with MBC who must travel to attend the conference. Additional details and the application can be found here.
Continuing Education Credits
Course rosters will be submitted to the appropriate entities for imaging technologists, nurses, and social workers. All attendees requiring CE credits will be given a certificate of completion. It is the participant’s responsibility to verify the requirements of his or her state/provincial licensing board(s) and to self-report and CE credits earned.
- Nursing: TBD CEUs from the California Board of Registered Nursing
- Imaging Technology: TBD CEUs from American Society of Radiologic Technologists
- Social Work: TBD CEUs from National Association of Social Workers
- PT/OT/Psychology/Counseling/Other: up to 4.5 course / credit hours
